Description: Rectangular birchbark picture frame, with glass window 3 1/2” by 4”, framing photo of Lucie Pray, age 12 to 16 (photo #001.59.297. )Rough texture, edges of frame bound with some sort of slim wood binding. Thin metal rods attached to back as prop. Glass is coated with dirt and grime.
Description: Crib has one open side so that it could be pushed against mother’s bed. Turned wood posts. Wooden peg construction. Description: Dark wood with heavy legs. Two drawers in middle. Two doors above desk open to reveal compartments - 6 in right and 13 in left. Wooden wedge nailed to right compartment which may be an ink holder. Wire coil attached to board inside compartment. Several “cubbies” above doors. Space in back of desk to hand mail through. Desk may have had a leather desk top attached that has left black marks on surface.
Description: Small camphene lamp of clear glass, Metal top. Chain on cap missing. Wick intact. Top tarnished. Camphene is turpentine. Often mixed with alcohol to burn.
Description: Tall carved with fruit and leaves. Easel moves up and down. Marked, “2799 A” and “2230” on back. Donor info - from John Allen Somes house. Piece needs glueing.
Description: Carved dark wood. Seat and back resemble scallop shells. Arms resemble sea serpents. Four legs resemble rough tree branches. Note on ribbon across seat indicated that chair may have been used in Daniel Somes's house. Ellsworth furniture restorer David Williams saw this chair; his research indicated that it may be a ninetheenth Venetian grotto chair, which was intended for hallways and aimed to be sold to visitors on their European tours. Description: Light brown wood with carved back. Upholstered seat of gray brocade. Upholstery very worn. Spring pushed through underside of cushion. Chair sturdy.
Description: Wooden cradle on rockers which are not fixed to the cradle. Once painted blue. Constructed with both dove tailed joints and nails. Head board has a narrow side piece creating a semi “hood”.
Description: Child sized chair. Maybe a doll chair. Bent wood back with strip of wood from chair seat to bent wood. Painted black with gold trim and angels drinking wine. Soldier boy on seat. Donor info - belonged to Lucie Pray, the daughter of Kate and Lester Pray of Somesville.
