Description:
Thaddeus Shepley Somes (1839-1913) and his wife, Clara Emilie Meynell Somes (1842-1920). Thaddeus Somes seated to right of Clara Somes, who is standing. He wears a plaid shirt, buttoned vest, open coat, lighter colored pants; she wears dark dress with light bow at neck, hair braided on crown. Thaddeus has moustache and goatee; has right hand is in his pocket, the other hand on his knee; his legs are crossed. Clara also wears long earrings, brooch on ribbon around her neck and a chain on bodice. Her right forearm is resting on his left shoulder. This is tintype is the source of all the related images: negative 997-810-980, later negative 997-803-973 and print from later negative 997-590-760. [show more]

Long blond hair with tight curls around top of head. Seated on floor with arms leaning on stool. Wears ring on ring finger and beads around neck. Dress, check with lace collar. Buttons on left side of bodice. Trim on both sides of bodice and near cuffs. Stored in white envelope marked, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Salisbiry, Mount Desert.
