Description: Clara Emilie Meynell Somes(1842-1920) and Thaddeus Shepley Somes (1839-1913) seated on front step of their home on corner of Oak Hill Road and Main Street. Clara wears hair in large bun on back of head. Striped blouse with full sleeves, black placket down center of bodice, white lace around collar. Decorative white flower plackets descend from shoulders along each side on center. Black skirt with indistinguishable design. Thaddeus wears straw hat, dark suit, white shirt, and black tie. Description: Thaddeus Shepley Somes (1839-1913) and his wife, Clara Emilie Meynell Somes (1842-1920). Thaddeus Somes seated to right of Clara Somes, who is standing. He wears a plaid shirt, buttoned vest, open coat, lighter colored pants; she wears dark dress with light bow at neck, hair braided on crown. Thaddeus has moustache and goatee; has right hand is in his pocket, the other hand on his knee; his legs are crossed. Clara also wears long earrings, brooch on ribbon around her neck and a chain on bodice. Her right forearm is resting on his left shoulder. This is the negative for the photographic print (997-590-760), both of which were taken from the orginal tintype (996-145-145). [show more]

Description: Sign at entrance of shore path. Sign reads, “This lovely foot path along the shore traverses private property and is open to the public at the pleasure of the owners. No bicycles or similar vehicles permitted. Nor animals not on leash. Misuse of the path such as littering damaging or misbehavior can be the cause for closing the path to public use.
