Description: This is a photocopy of the earliest known map of the eastern part of Mount Desert Island. The map shows the 1807 survey by John Peters of the French land grant to the De Gregoires and the acreages then sold to settlers. The original is in the Bar Harbor Historical Society. Inscription: "A Plan of the French grant on Mount Desert the shore to the old settlers' lots from a Plan taken by John Peters Esq., the remainder of the Survey taken by me, John Peters, Blue Hill, 1807."
