Description: Cased daguerreotype of Capt. Eben L. Higgins, sea captain of Mount Desert (1807-1900). Calling card of Mrs. Lester E. Pray is enclosed in the case. Note on back of card: "Picture of Capt. Eben L. Higgins, one of the well known Sea Captains of the island in former years." Captain Higgins was the husband of Hannah D. He died on December 28, 1900, at age 92 years, 9 months, and is buried in the Hamilton Station Cemetery in Bar Harbor. [show more]
Description: Used by Salem Town, surveyor, to survey Mount Desert Island. Small black case lined with printed paper. Contains nine sections for surveying instruments. Case contains - brass protractor, 2 brass dividers, 3 unidentified instruments. Hinged top broken and reattached with string. NOTE: by 2005, there appeared to be only 5 instruments in the case.

Description: Eleven (11) weights for fishing nets on a line of rope, with metal eye at one end. Circular loop of rope at opposite end. Each weight is approx. 1.25 inches long.
Description: One pair of child's high-button black leather shoes. New, approximately child's size 8. Reported to have come from A.C. Fernald's Store in Somesville. Reads on leather bottom "Little Princess School Shoe".
Description: Yellow wood box with hinged lid and small oval shell medallion in center. Appears to hold dried, caked make-up. Wood may be maple. Compact for face powder.
Description: Kit to darn holes "in anything that requires mending or darning in the Home"; for use with sewing machines. Contains 4 small hoops or rings in various sizes. Small black pastic needle of some sort with the kit but probably not in the original kit. Found in apartment over old store in Seal Harbor.
