Description: “Beal’s Lobster Pound” wharf. Lobster boat tied up at end of dock on right, two row boats in line also tied. Many lobster traps on dock. Door to Beal’s open. Dock coming down into water from left. Ballard Neg. #2-136 Source of this photo is unknown. Found mixed in a group of contact images that were of mixed origins. Description: Sepia-toned photograph of a house, said to be that of Benjamin Leland (b. 1828, d. 1904), on a small hill in Somesville. One and one-half story cape with white clapboard siding, dark shutters and trim. Covered porch on front of house. Extension on back connects to barn and shed. Tree, bare of leaves, near house. Other buildings beyond house. Later, this house may have belonged to Julia Smith (b. 1913, d. 2000). It is located on Main Street, Somesville, next to Don Smith’s house and across from the Somesville School (Condominiums). [show more]
