Hand stitched with ruffle on edge. Marked in brown ink “Mary A. Tapley”. Number after name not legible. Donor info - pillow case from Somes family of Gloucester, Massachusetts. From 1835 trousseau of Mary A. Tapley. It appears that there are two identical pillowcases with this ID #.

Description:
School master's desk. Top lifts to reveal space for books and pencils. One drawer at top with white knob. Two doors with shelves behind. One drawer at bottom missing pull. Decorative cut base. Lender info - used by Lynam Smith during the 1850s when he was the teacher in the first school in Pretty Marsh, called "The Little Red Schoolhouse." Lyman Smith also taught in other area schools. Donor is a descendant of Smith.

Description:
Made by Dr. Kendall Kittredge for his baby daughter. Seven generations of the Kittredge family have slept in it. Crib has one open side so that it can be pushed against the mother's bed. Made of wood. Wooden pegged construction. Turned posts. Rope webbing. Later used in the Fred Wiggin house. 3' 11" long, 2' 3/4" wide. 3' 3 1/2" high.

Window, which leans inwards, opens for candle. Gimbaled candle holder missing. Two brass rings on each side for carrying. Handle on top over tin chimney. Dovetail joints. More likely lantern than binnacle cover (AB 7/12/12).

Heavy box with key lock. Top worn. There are two compartments, one underneath the lid and three smaller compartments in front. Brass lock. Joints nailed. Raw wood inside. This belonged to A.C. Fernald, born 1819 died 1896. Bottle for ink is in front compartment.
