Description: Isaac Somes' ledger of items he bought in Boston and probably brought back to sell on Mount Desert Island. Reference on back pages to Somes' leasing of woolen mill to Richard Nanson (?) in 1879 -1883. Nanson was to agree to prohibit smoking on premises. May be a draft of a leasing agreement between Somes and Nanson (?) for operation of the woolen mill. Ledger begins in 1850 and continues to 1857. Description: Letter written from the Custom House in Bath [Maine]; writer's name hard to read. Letter dated Nov. 6, 1851 responds to letter from Mr. Heath; indicates that a Capt. McMullin cleared [customs] the previous day and had asked the writer to give him the name of a person to whom he should send money. Writer apparently gave the wrong name (A.J. Clark of Southwest Harbor);it should have been Mr. Heath.
