This map had been in the possession of the descendants of Abraham Somes, who came from Gloucester, MA in 1761 as the first permanent white settler on MDI. John Allen Somes (1872-1930) gave the original map to the Historical Society. It was probably one of the first gifts to the Society, which was founded in 1929. [show more]

Assessors are listed as Eben L. Higgins, John Salsbury, and ___ Mayo. Mill rate is given.
