William Thompson House, Thompson Island
Subject:
Description:
House on Thompson’s Island built by William Thompson. Two story house with attic. Addition on left side of house. Wrap around porch. Two chimneys. Small shrubs in front of house. Several trees around house. Wires connected to building. Recorded on back of photo - “My great-grandfather William Thompson’s house on “the island” in Trenton, Maine. The island was where the drawbridge was from the mainlands to Mt. Desert Island. William Thompson built the drawbridge and his men operated it for a long time. When I was a little girl (c. 8 or 9) and visited my grandparents at this place. I loved to go to the toll house and watch the taking of the toll.
