Title:
Somes Cove taken from house across street
Description:
Photograph of a pier, float and boat in Somes Cove next to Fernald's Store. Photo taken from upper story of house across the street and looks over Somes Harbor and the mountains.
7.5 x 10, sepia.
Written on back (by Virginia Somes Sanderson):
View from the third floor of the "Cottage" originally a store that Mrs. Thaddeus Somes converted into a cottage and lived there in the summers, renting the old place (Abraham III-Thaddeus Shepley Somes home) for several years. My childhood summers were spent on the 3rd floor of the "Cottage"--where I had two rooms--the front one looking out (as in the picture) over Somes Cove. This was our first dock and runway. The blacksmith shop had gone. This picture must have been around 1920-1925.
7.5 x 10, sepia.
