Thumb nail showing at bottom of photo. Paper on back of photo, “ A parr is a young salmon just two stages away from hatching. They are marked by vertical bars and must develop into smolts (upper fish) before they are capable of migrating to the sea, where they will spend two or three years developing into adult fish.”
