Used by Salem Town, surveyor, to survey Mount Desert Island. Small black case lined with printed paper. Contains nine sections for surveying instruments. Case contains - brass protractor, 2 brass dividers, 3 unidentified instruments. Hinged top broken and reattached with string. NOTE: by 2005, there appeared to be only 5 instruments in the case.

Folding knife with bone handle. Eagle in center of blade. Blade marked, “of the Best Quality. Patent Concave. Henry Clay Knife”. Donor info - knife belonged to Henry Somes, a seaman. The tip of the knife was broken off by the Captain of the ship to prevent murders, (perhaps this particular knife happened to be shaped that way).
