The island was where the drawbridge was from the mainlands to Mt. Desert Island. William Thompson built the drawbridge and his men operated it for a long time. When I was a little girl (c. 8 or 9) and visited my grandparents at this place. I loved to go to the toll house and watch the taking of the toll. [show more]
